How to Tour a Venue: 12 Questions to Ask Before You Sign

Touring a wedding or event venue is the highest-leverage hour in your planning process. Here's the checklist we'd want you to bring on a tour of any venue — including ours.

How to Tour a Venue: 12 Questions to Ask Before You Sign

A venue tour is the only time you can verify what brochures and websites can't show — the smell of the air handler, how loud the room is empty, where guests actually park, and whether the staff feels like a partner or a rental clerk. We want clients who picked us with eyes open, so here's the same checklist we'd hand a friend touring any venue in Orange County.

Before the tour

  • Estimate your guest count and write it down — you'll be asked
  • Pick 2–3 candidate dates so you can ask about availability
  • Bring your planner if you have one; bring your partner if you're getting married
  • Bring a tape measure if your event has a specific stage or dance floor footprint

12 questions to ask on every tour

Capacity and layout

  • What's the seated capacity for ceremony rows vs. banquet rounds?
  • How long does it take your team to flip the room from ceremony to reception?
  • Where do vendors load in, and is there a separate entrance for catering?

AV and production

  • What's included in sound, video, and lighting? What's an upcharge?
  • Can I see the stage with the lights and screens on, the way my event will run?
  • Where do I plug in a laptop for slides? Is there an HDMI run to the FOH?

Logistics

  • How many on-site parking spaces, and is there a drop-off zone?
  • Are restrooms ADA-accessible and how many stalls?
  • Is the kitchen full-service, prep-only, or just a warming station?

Money and contract

  • What's the total all-in price, including utilities, cleaning, and overtime?
  • What's the cancellation and rescheduling policy?
  • Is there a security deposit, and how is it returned?

What we tell people who tour our venue

We answer all 12 questions on the same tour. Capacity is 300–320 seated. The sanctuary is 65' × 40'. Sound, 4K LED video wall, stage lighting, kitchen, Wi-Fi, and routine maintenance are all included. 50 on-site parking spaces with ADA spots and a drop-off zone. Restrooms are ADA-accessible. We rent month-to-month with no minimum, security deposit is the first and last month's rent, and we're flexible on pricing because every event is a little different.
